B Sc Physiotherapy NZ 2007
Mike graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from The University of Otago in 2007. He spent the first 4 years of his career in New Zealand working in a orthopaedic/sports clinic and was heavily involved with various sporting teams including football (soccer) and rugby at senior club and representative level. Following this Mike has spent the last five years working in Australia largely in occupational health, residential aged care and orthopaedic physiotherapy.
Mike enjoys treating a wide range of ages and conditions although originating from New Zealand he does have a soft spot for rugby injuries. He utilises a combination of treatment techniques, mainly consisting of soft tissue, manual and exercise therapy. He believes that educating the client on how their condition came to be will enhance their recovery and help prevent recurrence.
Mike finds he can easily relate to an injured person having played most sports, and as a result having experienced many injuries himself. One of his physiotherapy tutors at university even suggested it was the most dedicated way to learn the profession that he had seen in his career.
Outside of work hours Mike currently enjoys a range of activities including cycling, running, tennis, golf. snowboarding and hiking.
