Alison graduated from the University of Otago in New Zealand in 2001 with her bachelors of physiotherapy.  After graduation she spent a year working in Australia, in both Sydney and the Outback, before returning home to Vancouver in 2003.  Since then Alison has worked in private practice, and has been a member of the team at West 4th Physiotherapy since 2004.

Alison has attended many post graduate courses, some of which include completing a Certification in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy in Perth, Australia, Acupuncture with the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute, and Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS).  Alison enjoys treating a wide range of orthopaedic conditions, including sports injuries, postural dysfunction, chronic pain, and post-operative rehabilitation.  Alison integrates manual therapy with acupuncture/IMS and exercise as her main treatment strategies for optimal results.

Alison has a love for the outdoors, and outside of the clinic is a running, hiking, and skiing enthusiast.

Congratulations to Alison and Alex on the birth of their daughter Caitlyn Ava Heald. All doing well!

Alison will have the next few months at home getting used to the new family scene and will think about a return in September.
