My interest in physiotherapy comes from a life long passion for sports and activities as well as the injuries that go along with them. My involvement in sports such as hockey, basketball, baseball, football, skiing and biking meant that I spent plenty of time in physiotherapy in order to rehabilitate my own injuries. As I began to learn more about how the body works, I became more interested in attempting to rehabilitate my own injuries and decided to pursue physiotherapy.
My educational journey began at the University of Victoria where I completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. While at UVIC I spent time as trainer for a number of the varsity sports teams such as rugby, soccer, and basketball. After my time at UVIC, I moved on to the University of British Columbia to complete a Master of Physical Therapy degree. After finishing university, I have continued to take courses in manual therapy, acupuncture, and movement dysfunction in order to continually grow and improve as a physiotherapist.
After graduation from UBC I spent time working in Whistler, BC, where I was able to work with a great variety of clients ranging from weekend warriors to world-class skiers and bikers. Following my time in Whistler, I joined the West 4th physiotherapy team in April of 2012. I am thoroughly enjoying living in Vancouver and working at a great clinic with wonderful clients and staff.
I believe in a client-centered approach to treatment, which involves educating the client about their condition and restoring each person to their optimal level of function. I employ a number of physiotherapy treatment techniques including manual or ‘hands-on’ therapy, exercise therapy and education.
