Lu Yao is a Registered Physiotherapist who helps her clients get back to enjoying life.

After obtaining a Master’s degree in physiotherapy from McGill University, Lu’s interests in outdoor activities have brought her to the city of Vancouver. She has worked on various musculoskeletal conditions, as well as male and female pelvic floor concerns such as bladder/bowel control, prolapse, prenatal/postpartum pelvic health and abdominal dysfunctions. After graduation, Lu completed further training in pelvic health training with Marcy Dayan at Dayan physiotherapy and pelvic floor clinic, McKenzie part A in lumbar spine, Mulligan concept of upper quadrant (cervical spine and upper limbs), acupuncture and dry needling of the upper body and cervical spine, advanced physical therapy management of upper limbs, and TMJ management.

Prior to the physiotherapist life, Lu was a bioscience researcher. She has a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and Immunology and a master’s degree in Biochemistry from McGill University. Lu has developed a strong enthusiasm and curiosity for science through her previous education and work in cancer research.

In Lu’s spare time, you will find her reading scientific journals to stay update with the health science research. You might also find her running along the seawall, mountain biking in North Vancouver, or doing long distance bike touring anywhere in the world. Her bike trips have included 1600km from Amsterdam to Rome, crossing the Swiss Alps (2016), 1800km from San Francisco to Vancouver (2017), and 1200km off-road biking in Mongolia (2019). Lu strongly believes that getting out of the comfort zone and continuously pushing physical and mental boundaries are key to success and fulfillments in life. The sky is not the limit, only the imagination is.

Lu is accepting new patients, and she speaks fluent Mandarin and functional French.
